Who are we?

Hello to everyone, i'm Alice Mascheroni (in art Eliss) and i'm an italian student and artist from Bergamo. I have always had a strong interest in Arab culture and in the Palestinian territory, a land rich in traditions and values.

Thanks to the stories of my Palestinian friend and painter Dorgham Qreaiqea (Gaza, 1997), who currently lives in Khan Younis in the Gaza Strip, and to, i had the opportunity to learn more about this land, its, its music, dance and art. I also had the opportunity to meet this amazing dabke dance team, Rajeen.

IThere are the children of the team

Through their dance, Rajeen invites us to support their mission of sharing Palestinian culture and history.

Join us for an unforgettable experience!

What is the dabke dance?

The dabke (Arabic: دبكة, lit. tapping feet or making noise) is a traditional folk dance of the Levant region, performed in groups at weddings and other celebrations.

The characteristic feature of this folk dance is to stomp loudly on the ground in step with the music. The dance is performed in a semicircle, at the end of which is the most skilled dancer in the group, called the lawith, and to his left are the other dancers hand in hand, who are led by the group leader.

“dabke is more than just a dance. It is a form of storytelling through movement and, for many, a way to show solidarity and cooperation, cultural resistance and the strength of the human spirit.”
